  • Taiwan seeks dog handlers for airport and seaport security

    Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture is recruiting four dog handlers for its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency. The positions offer a starting salary of NT$37,769 per month, plus an additional NT$7,700 allowance for outstations. Handlers must have at least one year of related experience and be available for shifts and business travel. They also need a good understanding of dogs, an outgoing personality, and the ability to work independently. The positions are divided among Taipei Songshan Airport, Taoyuan International Airport, and Kinmen Shuitou Pier, with potential relocation to Kaohsiung Airport or Taichung Airport.

  • Starux Airlines to launch Taichung-Macao direct flights

    StarLux Airlines has announced that it will begin direct flights between Taichung and Macao starting March 31, 2023. The new route will have a weekly availability of eight round trips and will utilize the A321neo model aircraft, offering 188 seats. In addition to Macao, StarLux plans to expand its operations from Taichung International Airport to other cities, including Đà Nẵng and Takamatsu, in 2024. The airline also recently started selling tickets for its Taipei-Hakodate route, which is scheduled to launch on Feb. 1, 2024. With these new routes, StarLux aims to provide a fresh flight experience for the central region of Taiwan.

  • Kaohsiung Airport’s new terminal advances

    The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) announced on Friday (Dec. 8) the progression of Kaohsiung Airport’s new terminal. With the preliminary engineering’s essential design phase completed, the project is set to be tendered, according to CAA official Lin Hung-hsien. The new terminal at Kaohsiung Airport marks the largest construction project following Taoyuan International Airport’s third terminal. This infrastructure advancement reflects Taiwan’s push to modernize its aviation facilities and enhance passenger capacity.
